Pediatric dentistry
A child's first visits to the dentist stay in their memory for a long time. That is why at SVEDENT in Sofia we work with patience, play and plenty of explanation in a child's language — combining treatment with prevention and building healthy habits early. Our pediatric specialists are Dr. Mila Gorbunova and Dr. Vasilena Vatafova.
How we help children
Pediatric care at SVEDENT includes:
- preventive check-ups and monitoring of growth and bite development
- treatment of decay in baby and permanent teeth
- coaching on brushing, eating habits and home care
- a calm, step-by-step introduction to treatment
- orthodontic consultation when early signs call for it
Calm for the child — and the parent
We explain what we are doing, show the instruments and give the child time to get comfortable. A positive experience today is what makes every future visit easy — for children who grow up seeing the dentist as a friend, prevention becomes natural.
Frequently asked questions
When should a child first visit the dentist?
Around the first birthday, or when the first tooth appears. Early visits are short and friendly — the goal is familiarity and prevention, not treatment.
Is it worth treating baby teeth?
Yes. Baby teeth hold space for the permanent ones and matter for chewing, speech and the child's comfort. Untreated decay can damage the developing permanent tooth underneath.
Do you offer sealants and fluoride treatment?
Yes — preventive sealants and fluoride applications are a routine part of children's care, protecting the chewing surfaces most prone to decay.
My child is afraid of the dentist. What do you do?
We schedule adaptation visits: play, showing the instruments, small steps and no pressure. Most children settle within a visit or two, at their own pace.
